in a RTC setting

What's this all about?

A person holds a Nintendo Switch controller with blue and red Joy-Cons in front of a TV displaying a colorful animated game scene featuring characters and a wooden fence. RTC's (Residential Treatment Centers) are live-in healthcare facilities that provide intensive therapy for individuals dealing with mental health issues or behavioral problems. They generally offer 24/7 supervision, structured routines, and comprehensive care in safe environments.

Introducing a game console into that sort of environment can be both helpful, and also get things a bit messy. The Nintendo Switch console hosts a trove of affordable co-operative and competitive titles that may help ease tension, build relationships, and provide residents a source of agency. Intentionally choosing the right games, alongside appropriate usage of the system, can work as an aid in the therapeutic milieu.

This site is a work-in-process effort to help RTC's & parents find some games that may be a good fit.

The games listed on this site are solely recommendations & are based on opinion and experience. You are encouraged to further research games you feel may be a best fit. Youtube reviewers such as NintendoLife & SwitchUp are great for learning more about various titles.

Generally am trying to avoid games that have violence, or may cue those playing them.
